New Technologies to Train the Workforce

On 28 September, 2014, the Joint Technology Exchange Group (JTEG), in coordination with the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS), hosted a two hour virtual forum on “New Technologies to Train the Workforce”. The purpose of the forum was to share the experiences, challenges, successes, and benefits of new and innovative hands-on technical training technologies being offered by industry experts and depot representatives. Fleet Readiness Center-East and Pendaran Inc. led the presentations with a discussion of their highly productive experiences with the virtual workplace simulator. EXE followed with a description of their favorably received immersive virtual training products. Corpus Christi Army Depot then briefed their computer-based training (CBT) for metal finishers program and their paint booth simulator. Finally, NAVSEA finished with a description of several efforts underway involving naval shipyard training.
