Representatives from Hill AFB

On 26 March 2013 Joint Technology Exchange Group (JTEG) Principals and designated representatives participated in a teleconference and interactive slide presentation. The purpose of the teleconference and presentation was to familiarize everyone with the JTEG Website and train principals and representatives on the steps and responsibilities involved with posting technology ideas to the JTEG website. Following is a summary of the teleconference:

Update on Recent Actions:

The following information was presented:

1)      The JTEG Website, https://jteg.ncms.org , will go live on 1 April 2013.  This means the site will be open to the general public and technology idea submissions will be possible on 1 April.  Only the Working Area will require a Login and Password.

2)      JTEG Principals were encouraged to conduct a final review of the Website prior to 1 April. If they identified any information on the site that they did not want visible to the public, they need to inform NCMS NLT 31 Mar 2013.

3)      OSD/LMI have coordinated with OSD AT&L Information and Assurance and PAO  representatives and developed security procedures to maintain the JTEG Website on the NCMS hosting site. The three main points to emphasize are:

  1. All information posted on the site will be unclassified and available for public release.
  2. All information must be reviewed by a JTEG Principal and approved by a JTEG co-chair prior to posting on the site.
  3. OSD will show due diligence and ensure positive control of the posted information and process.  The Service’s may have additional requirements.

4)      JTEG members were encouraged to facilitate submission of maintenance technology ideas. Technology projects with programs such as CTMA, SBIR, ManTech, TIPS, TECD, ATD, etc are excellent submission candidates. Service Principals

JTEG Website Review & Training:

Matt Heddle, NCMS, navigated the JTEG website explaining the features and information posted at each of the tabs.

JTEG Working Area: Matt explained that a login and password are required to access the working area which is used by the principals to submit and approve technology projects, ideas, and news. JTEG principals can request working area access be granted to designated representatives by submitting a request to NCMS.

Matt explained the Technology Idea/Project submittal process to include describing the flow chart and explaining the detailed descriptions available in the Documentation section of the Working Area. On 1 April, Submittal of ideas will be available to the general public. The submission is reviewed by the appropriate JTEG Principal and that Principal decides whether to recommend the idea be posted on the website. If the submission is recommended, the idea is reviewed at the next JTEG meeting and the Co-Chairs decide whether or not to post the idea.

The tab called “Site Change/Update Request” in the Working Area should be used to correspond with NCMS on matters such as requesting to add a member, to recommend site changes, or provide updates.

Open Tasks:

1)      NCMS will move the Technology Projects currently in the Tech Corner to the Working Area. These Projects are from the 2009-2010 JTEG Collaboration Initiative (JCI) and the USAF and NAVAIR Principals asked they be removed from public view until the projects can be reviewed and approved for posting. Some of these projects may be obsolete.  Projects from the other services will remain in the Tech Corner.

2)      NCMS will add the capability to print and save technology ideas and projects posted to the JTEG website. Currently, only an image of the page is printed.

3)      NCMS will send to the USAF Principal, Tom Spitler, a list of all USAF personnel who have a login and password  to the JTEG Working Area. – Completed

Closed Task:

NCMS has loaded a link to the DOD website called “Defense Innovation Marketplace” at URL http://www.defenseinnovationmarketplace.mil/  .   The link is located on the JTEG website at “DOD Links > Technology Programs and Venues”. The Defense Innovation Marketplace is a centralized resource to reinvigorate innovation. For Government, the Marketplace provides access to search tools to assess and then leverage industry IR&D projects for current and future programs. For Industry, the Marketplace is a resource for information about Department of Defense investment priorities and capability needs.
