General
The mission of the Joint Technology Exchange Group (JTEG) is to provide a forum for the exchange of information on new technology, processes, and equipment developments. The JTEG website is a tool that the JTEG utilizes to exchange information within the maintenance technology community. The JTEG website is open to the public and anyone can submit maintenance technology information, technology ideas, needs, or projects by using the “Submit a Project Idea” form on the JTEG homepage.
Below are the step-by-step instructions to submit technology ideas, needs, or projects to the JTEG website. These steps are illustrated in a flowchart in the working area of the website.
Steps for Idea and Project Submission
- Submitter opens the submission form by clicking on the “Submit a Project Idea” box in the upper right corner of the JTEG Website.
- Submitter inputs their project/idea/needs information into the “Project Info” fields on the “Submit a Project Idea” page, to include uploading any files such as briefings or white papers.
- Submitter then clicks the “Send” button which sends the project info to the email accounts of all the JTEG Principals and their designated representatives. The submitter receives an email that their submission was received.
- The email that goes to the Principles contains all the submitted information, however, you may view all the information of ALL submitted ideas at one time by going to the “Working Area >Submitted Ideas” portion of the website.
- The JTEG Principal of the Service/Agency selected by the submitter is responsible for making the recommendation to the co-chairs whether to post the idea submission to the JTEG website or not.
- If the decision is to NOT recommend the information, the Principal or his/her representative will contact the submitter for more information, or will inform the submitter that the information submitted is not appropriate for the website.
- If the decision is made to recommend the information, the JTEG Principal will complete the “Recommend Idea” form in the “Working Area > Recommend/Approve/Submit Ideas” page.
- The JTEG co-chairs will have periodic meetings to review the recommended ideas on the “Working Area > Recommended Ideas” page. They will decide to reject or to move forward with posting the idea.
- If the decision is to NOT post the information, the Principal or his/her representative will contact the submitter for more information, or will inform the submitter that the information submitted is not appropriate for the website. The Principal notifies the other Principals that the idea will not be posted on the website.
- If the decision is made to post the information, the JTEG Principal, or representative, will ensure the information is complete, review for any sensitive, non-open source information, and decide if it will be posted as a technology idea/need that has possible joint applications or to pursue more information and submit idea as a full-blown project. (Can also post as a technology idea while preparing to submit as a project).
- Submit a Technology Idea – The Principal requests an idea be posted by going to the “Approve Idea” tab on the “Working Area > Recommend/Approve/Submit Ideas” page of the website. This form only requires the Principal to submit their name, their email, title of idea, Service, as well as give the idea a project number. The idea project number is an eight digit number comprised of a 2 letter code for the submitting activity (AF = Air Force, AR = Army, MC = Marine Corps, NA = NAVAIR, NS = NAVSEA, DL = DLA, CG = Coast Guard, NP = NASA), the last 2 digits of the fiscal year, and a 4 digit sequence number. Examples: NS-09-0001, NP-10-0101, AF-12-0134. If there is any additional information that is not in the original submission (ex. title change) please indicate in the “Additional Information” text area, or upload additional documentation as needed, otherwise those areas are not required.
- Submit a Project – The Principal must contact the submitter to obtain the information needed to complete the form in the “Full Project” tab on the “Working Area > Recommend/Approve/Submit Ideas” page of the website. JTEG Projects will earn greater visibility and their status will be briefed to the MESC on a regular basis. Candidates for JTEG projects should have the following attributes:
- Strong potential joint applications
- Meets a stated DoD/Service requirement or need
- Increases maintenance efficiencies and/or effectiveness
- The capability is available for fielding within 12-24 months
- The project has a committed DoD/Service partner
- Upon receipt of the “Approved Technology Idea” or “Project Submission” information from the JTEG Principal, NCMS will verify completion of required information, perform a security scan, label each page with the message “Unclassified / for Public Release”, and post the information in the appropriate focus area within the Technology Corner of the JTEG Website. Additionally, the most recent posted ideas and projects will automatically be listed on the sidebar under “What’s New”.
- NCMS will fill out the “Idea Posted (NCMS Only)” form on the “Working Area > Recommend/Approve/Submit Ideas” page of the website. Submission of the form will send an email to the submitter and all the JTEG Principals, informing them that the technology idea/need has been posted.
