On 11 April, 2013 the Joint Technology Exchange Group (JTEG) Principals and designated representatives participated in a teleconference. The purpose of the teleconference was to discuss:
The JTEG Panel for the CTMA Partner’s Meeting on 23 May
The JTEG Role in the OSD/CTMA Maintenance Challenge
The JTEG Website http://jteg.ncms.org
CTMA Annual Partners Meeting (21-23 May)
The 14th CTMA Annual Partners Meeting (formerly referred to as Annual Symposium) is a combination virtual and networking event. This year’s Partners Meeting theme is “Fast Track to Collaboration” and participants will discuss methods for successfully implementing technology at maintenance facilities and to identify other technology initiatives that impact weapon system readiness. Live keynote addresses and panel discussions will be via video-conference with rebroadcast over the internet to anyone registering for the event. Participants can tune-in to the meeting based on their interests in the agenda.
JTEG Panel
The JTEG Principals will form a panel at the CTMA Partners Meeting to present the JTEG mission and activities, conduct a JTEG website demonstration, and discuss the Military Services’ maintenance technology goals and projects. The main focus of the panel is to raise the maintenance technology community’s awareness in the JTEG and encourage joint collaborative efforts.
JTEG panel members have not been finalized but the tentative members are the JTEG Principals, with Greg Kilchenstein serving as the moderator. We discussed Kurt Doehnert representing NAVSEA and talking about the maintenance technology program which he overseas there, Tom Spitler presenting the USAF Sustainment Technology (Investment) Process, either Greg Russell, Jim Gagnon, or Robert Guilherme representing the USMC, and Tim Serafin would discuss with Bruce Wilhelm who should represent NAVAIR. Greg Kilchenstein stated he would reach out to the Army and DLA to identify panel members.
VTC Beta Test: On or about the week of 22 April, NCMS will conduct a Beta test with all the VTC sites involved in the meeting to test the connectivity. Debbie Lilu will provide more information next week.
Briefing Template: Debbie will provide the CTMA briefing template to all the JTEG Principals.
Panel Rehearsal: On or about 8 May, 1300-1500, the JTEG Panel will conduct a rehearsal via VTC. All of the members are expected to run through an outline of their presentation, and NCMS will run through an on-line demonstration of the JTEG website. The plan is for Greg to cover the JTEG mission and activities in 10 minutes (He says he can do it!), run the JTEG demo for 15 minutes, provide each panel member with 15 minutes, and allow 10 minutes on the backside for questions and answers.
OSD/CTMA Maintenance Challenge
The JTEG Principals had already completed voting and a winner has been chosen. The winner will receive funds from CTMA and a possible second project from the #2 through #9 finishers. Maintenance Challenge participants will present their projects during the meeting.
The JTEG Website
The JTEG Website, http://jteg.ncms.org went live on 4 April 2013. The site is now available to the general public and technology idea submissions can be submitted on-line.
Website Marketing: We want the maintenance technology community to use the JTEG website as an effective collaboration tool. We need to market the JTEG website capabilities to the community. Some of the ideas suggested were monthly newsletters, getting with PAOs and submitting articles to publications, adding the website to links on other websites, and making the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) aware of the website. NCMS has added the JTEG website link to the NCMS homepage, and will have an article on the website in their next “CTMA Connector” as well as their ENAAG Newsletter. All the JTEG Principals are encouraged to actively market the website to the maintenance technology community.
Idea Submissions: Since 4 April two technology ideas were presented and recommended for posting: Computed Radiography from the USMC, and the Human Augmentation System from NAVSEA. Both were approved by the co-chairs for posting. The two projects are now listed on the approved projects listing.
