Laser Coating Ablation
JTEG Forum Minutes
Event: On 27 February 2024, the Joint Technology Exchange Group (JTEG) hosted a virtual technology forum on “Laser Coating Ablation”.
Purpose: The purpose of this forum was to describe laser coating ablation capabilities and solution sets that could support DoD maintenance operations. We discussed several methods that utilize laser technology to remove paint and other coatings and also introduced induction as a paint removal solution. All of these have the potential to positively impact DoD maintenance efficiency, effectiveness, and improve safety.
Welcome: John Shultz, ODASD (Materiel Readiness), welcomed everyone to the forum, and provided a brief introduction of the significance of laser ablation capabilities to the DoD maintenance community.
