On 1 February 2017, the Joint Technology Exchange Group (JTEG) Principals and representatives conducted a monthly teleconference. A brief summary of the teleconference follows:

  • Discussion of “Draft Sustainment Technology Policy (STP)
  • JTEG Role at CTMA Partners’ Meeting on 3-5 Apr

Hot Wash of Most Recent Technology Forum – Jan 31 – “Additive Repair Supporting Maintenance Operations”.  The group agreed that this one of the best sessions we’ve ever had. Attendance and participation were strong with nearly 70 people joining and questions for all the presenters.  The session did go about fifteen minutes over the allotted 2 hours and it was suggested to use some type of a “Stoplight Chart” system for the briefers in the future. LMI and NCMS will research.

Planning Session for Upcoming JTEG Technology Forum:  Feb 28 – Asset Visibility: What Where and Condition:  This is a reschedule of the Sep forum which was cancelled.  The agenda is the same:

  • Centralized Fleet Automated Management System (CFAMS)
    • Paul Smith (DLA – New Cumberland) & Mark Stanton
  • NSY Geolocation efforts – Steve McKee (NAVSEA)
  • NAVAIR CBM+ Analytics – Dewayne Cole (NAVAIR)
  • Automated Armory – Mike Ryan (HQMC) and Matt Edwards (Troika)
  • Item Unique Identification Cost Benefit Study for Legacy Gas Turbine Engine Fleet Maintenance – Matthew Juarez (StandardAero) & USAF (TBD)

Presenters will be contacted and provided an opportunity to update their briefs.

New/Other Business:

Discussion of Newly Submitted JTEG Project Idea from Charles Ligon: A new project ideas was submitted by Silva Non Skid Solutions.  The technology, Silva Non-Skid Peel and Stick, is a mature off-the-shelf technology already in use on some naval vessels. The group had several questions including the wear and durability, surface preparation required, ease of removal, and available methods to inspect the surface beneath the pads.  Kurt and Janice from NAVSEA will investigate the application of the technology within NAVSEA and report back.

Discussion of Sustainment Technology Policy):  Greg would like everyone to take a couple weeks to look at the draft STP and associated comments. He asked everyone to look at the level of effort in the STP, and to comment on what you think needs to be done to properly support sustainment technology efforts in DoD.  Following reception of the comments, a new version of the STP will be developed that incorporates the comments. Greg also remarked that he would look for an STP slide package that he would send to the JTEG Principals.

2017 CTMA Partners’ Meeting (3-5 April):  JTEG Principals are encouraged to attend this meeting at Hill, AFB, UT.  The 1st day event will be a Hill AFB Technology Showcase, followed by a JTEG Annual Meeting. There will be speakers, panels, and breakout sessions over the next 2 days. The final day will conclude with a JTEG “Shark Tank” panel at the CTMA Technology Competition where finalists are selected by the JTEG Principals.
