On 27 February, 2014, the Joint Technology Exchange Group (JTEG), in coordination with the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS), hosted a two hour virtual forum on “Advanced Wiring Inspection & Diagnostics Capabilities”.

The purpose of the forum was to share the experiences, challenges, successes, and benefits of DoD efforts in advanced wiring and electronics diagnostics capabilities. The forum examined the military Services’ needs for wiring and LRU/WRA circuit path testing and discussed the variety of approaches and technologies they are pursuing to meet their requirements.

The USAF, NAVAIR, and 160th SOAR(A) all discussed their experiences using the Automatic Wire Test Set (AWTS) on avionics equipment, and Production Plant Barstow briefed their demonstration of AWTS on HMMWV components. Meanwhile, Production Plant Albany briefed their demonstration and use of Cable Test MPT-1000 testers and Horizon II portable testers on vehicle platforms and communication equipment. Finally, representatives from AFSC/ENRB discussed a technology project using an advanced mobile universal electrical tester (AMUET) which is automated, portable, wireless, generic (can test any wiring on any sub-system), and requires no programming.
